Start writing this blog in English

From today, I would like to write this blog in English as frequently as possible. The reason why I try to do so is that I have a strong sense of urgency that we Japanese must be globalized as soon as possible. By writing this in English, I can train myself to express my opinion, thoughts in English and I will be able to have the feeling that I am connected to the world by writing this blog.
Why English? English is surely a global language in this world, and will be staying in that position in 10 to 30 years in the future too. Some people say that Chinese will be the next global language, but I do not think so. China will surely become a world superpower within 5 years from now, but Chinese language is quite difficult to learn especially for Western people.
How about Japanese? Never be the global language. Keep on writing this blog in Japanese means that I send my message or thoughts only to 120 million Japanese people. Off course I do not think my opinion is precious enough for global stage, but trying is always better than not trying.

今日から、可能な限り頻繁にこのブログを英語で書いていこうと思います。どうしてそうした試みをしようと思ったかというと、日本と日本人にとってグローバル化は喫緊の課題であるという危機感に苛まれてのことです。このブログを英語で書き綴ることで、僕自身が英語で考えや意見を発信するトレーニングになるだけではなく、このブログを通じて世界とつながっているのだという実感が持てるのではないかと期待しています。
どうして英語なのでしょう？それは簡単。英語が現在のところ唯一のグローバル言語で、また今後１０年から３０年にわたってその地位にとどまり続けるであろうことが確かだと思うからです。中には中国語がグローバル言語になるという人もいますが、僕はその可能性は低いと思っています。確かに中国は今後５年以内に世界の超大国となるでしょうが、中国語は難しく、とくに欧米人には習得が困難です。
日本語はどうなのでしょう？問題外、というのが正直なところです。つまり、このブログを日本語で書き続けるということは、自分自身の思考を最大でも１億２千万人にしか届けることができないということです（赤ちゃんも含めてですが。。。）。もちろん僕の考えなどというものが世界のステージで通用するレベルにないことは重々承知しています。でも、チャレンジすることはチャレンジしないことよりも常に尊いと思うのです。
